Chapter Five

“Took you long enough. Cindy and I were getting nervous you were going to be a no-show. So how did things go with Mitch?” asked Nora, toying with her strawberry daiquiri.

“Great.”

“Oh Tina…”

Tina took a seat next to her friends. The urge to tell them what had happened to her tonight was overwhelming. She longed to reveal to them how Mitch’s kisses had unlocked that wild part of her and disclosed how much she had wanted to go home with him and finally have that mind-blowing sex everyone talked about. However she was saved from spilling her sad tale when the lights dimmed.

Settling back in her chair, she took the offered drink Cindy had bought her, mouthing a thank you to her friend. The minute the men hit the stage not a whisper could be heard. Tonight was swimsuit night and the place was more packed than last night. About one hundred women were crowded into the theater’s hall, each waiting with bated breath to bid on their blind date of the night. And once again all the men wore masks.

Watching the men stride across the stage, Tina felt a dark, sensual stroke of thought touch her mind, almost a teasing intimate caress, causing her nipples to harden.

Scanning the stage, she sucked her breath in sharply. One man towered over the rest, bare-chested with the perfect amount of crisp dark chest hairs, clad in a black Speedo that didn’t leave much to the imagination. He wore the requisite Zorro-like mask and then it hit her. It was Mitch. Her Mitch. The cop who worked the night shift was the same mystery man who had done all those wickedly erotic things to her and the same 47

man who had fled, leaving her blood pulsing and her pussy screaming and throbbing for more.

Incredulously, Tina watched him glide around the stage and then he caught her gaze—those chocolate brown eyes of his claiming her with one mesmerizing glance. He boldly winked at her.

“I don’t believe it,” she seethed, recalling his words from the elevator. Words that had almost erupted a flood of tears from her.

“Ladies, are you bidding tonight?”

Sasha’s voice broke through to Tina, causing her to gulp. Immediate guilt for firing off that stupid lawsuit hit her. Although her rational self had given her the guts to call Sasha that afternoon to inform her she’d cancel the ridiculous lawsuit, she still felt the need to explain why she’d done it in the first place.

“Look, I wanted to—”

Sasha placed a calming hand on Tina’s shoulder. “Do not. They deserve what they get. I haven’t had so much fun in years,” chuckled Sasha. Tonight she wore a shockingly low-cut red gown, topped of course with her purple witch’s hat. She looked shiny, mischievous and sexy.

Sasha looked around the room. “The ladies love your men, but your men expect you to bid on them.”

Nora sounded as if she was growling. She was acting totally out of sorts. As a nurse, her friend was always the kind-hearted one and could always be counted on to act properly.
